The
community of Silverdale does not have a ambulance service that is
based in our town or coverage area. Our EMS [Emergency Medical
Service] services come from the surrounding towns, so in late 1995,
Silverdale Fire Co. made a decision to increase the already
excellent medical care that serves our community and coverage area
by adding a Quick Response Service [QRS] unit. This will cut down on
the time that it takes for the people of the community to start
receiving BLS [Basic Life Support] care until the ambulance crews
arrive.
A 1988 4x4 Chevrolet Suburban was added to our fleet and is
the primary QRS unit. The suburban is first out on all medical calls
due to it's smaller size, four wheel drive and more economical to
run as we do not charge the patient for this service.
On
03.09.06 a
2001 Chevy Suburban QRS unit was added to replace the 1988 Chevy
Suburban, that had over three hundred thousand miles.
Anyone wishing to join
the company and becoming a EMT or First Responder to run with this
unit may email the QRS coordinator or call the station at
215.257.9620 any time and leave a message or stop by the station any
given Tuesday night. In
2001 the 1988 Chevrolet Suburban was replaced with a newer unit, a
2001 Chevy Suburban. The old unit served us well but was getting
tired and had over three hundred thousand miles on it. Today, this
unit and company EMT's answer over two hundred calls a year or a
average of thirty calls a month as our coverage area grows. |
