WANTED FIREFIGHTERS, especially daytime firefighters

The Silverdale Volunteer Fire Company is looking to increase it's number of
daytime firefighting personnel to keep pace with the growth in our community.
Do you work in the Silverdale area and have an employer that would allow you
to serve the local community?  Many employers will still pay their employees
if they respond to fires and other emergencies during the day because you are
protecting the area of their business.  Do you work at home or are self
employed and could respond to emergencies during the day?  Join a progressive,
safety oriented fire department that has an excellent retention program.  We
pay for all of your training, yearly physicals, uniforms and many other things
that will make your service to the Silverdale and Hilltown Township area a
very rewarding experience.  Only available nights and weekends?  We provide
the same initiatives regardless of when you are available.  Contact the
station, stop by any Tuesday night after 7 p.m. or get your application
started right here on our website.

'Steer Clear' Law, Motorist now required to move over or slow down for roadside incidents
HARRISBURG - A state law that took effect this month requires Pennsylvania motorist to move over or slow down when they encounter an emergency scene, traffic stop or disabled vehicle. The law applies any time an emergency vehicle has its lights flashing and where roar crews or emergency personnel have lighted flares, posted signs or tried to warn motorist. Failure to move over or slow down can result in a summary offense that carries a fine of up to $250. In addition, fines will be doubled for traffic violations occurring in these areas. If that violation leads to a worker being injured, a 90-day license suspension could result.
